King Salmon fishing has been excellent here since our last report. The bulk of the action has been taking place at some of the coastal king salmon haunts like Granite Pt. and Cape Felix. Pineapple Rock just started kicking out some fish the past few days and those that are willing to deal with the sea lions have been catching some nice kings there lately. A 53 pounder was caught by one of the Waterfall guests a few days ago at Pineapple and Jeff Brown from Klawock caught a 44 pound Chinook at Granite the same day. Those are some nice kings for sure!

Here’s Kees, Sally, Craig, and Margene with a limit of nice king salmon they caught while they were fishing with us last week.

Here’s Terry with a 39″ halibut that he caught aboard the Sea Hunt with Capt. Kim. The halibut limit this summer is one per day either under 44 inches or over 76 inches. Capt. Kim has had a couple of big halibut in the release slot this past week…one he estimated at 120 pounds and another at 150 pounds. Nice halibut and good to see them swim off to spawn!

Barry Brown with the 29 pound king salmon that he caught at Granite Pt. on a really tough weather day. Nicely done Barry!

We’ve found a ton of plastic fishing floats from the Tsunami in Japan the last couple of years but this is the first glass fishing float I’ve ever found in all my days on the ocean. The guys I had on the boat that day said it’s the most excited they’ve ever seen me.

I would expect the king salmon fishing to continue to be excellent here for the next week and we’ve seen a few more silvers show up the last couple of days too. The marine forecast is favorable for the next few days and myself and the rest of the guys are looking to some more great days on the ocean!
