We ran our last charter on August 27th and the fishing was great right up until the bitter end. We had limits of big coho and some awful nice halibut with the Rick Winchester group who visited us from Missouri.
We released multiple oversized halibut and to top it all off Rick layed into a halibut that I guesstimated at around 250 pounds just as I was saying “reel’em up” on the last day. We had just put our final fish in the boat when the big ol’ girl climbed on and took Ricky for a ride. The fish was easily over the 76″ slot limit but regardless of whether we could keep her or not she most likely would have been released anyway. Here’s an awkward photo of Rick’s big halibut with a pipe jig hanging out of her maw. Hard to tell…she was a dandy though. Fun times and a great way to end the 2014 season!
Taking a little time to decompress a bit before we pull out the calendar for the 2015 season. We’re getting quite a few emails and calls already and you can bet it won’t be long before I start plugging groups in for next summer. After three straight months of hardcore fishing I can hardly wait to get back on the water again next June for another summer of king salmon fishing and fun!
Thanks again for fishing with us in 2014!
